Do you get confused by VDI's of machines

I understand that tones are first, but do you get confused when using different machines with different VDI scales when going back and forth between machines?

I don't have a good memory, so I get confused when switching to different machines. The numbers don't match and neither does the sounds. I have just come to realize that I am better off with one good machine and try to make it do everything I need it to do.

I have 3 good machines and plan on being down to one by spring time.

Yes! I narrowed my detectors down to the CoinStrike and the Golden uMax. They are vastly different but I know both well. Last summer I sold the ID Edge. The ID numbers and the 4 tones are the same on the CoinStrike and on the Edge, no confusion there at all and I liked that. The CoinStrike is heavier but it has more settings to play with. Both go deep.

Both of my machines, Fisher and Whites, use icons to indicate the target. If they read high, zinc or above, I trust the icons and don't bother learning the numbers. It's the nickel numbers and common pull tab numbers I bother to learn plus theres still an icon to help remind me.
A target has to sound good first and the size has to right before I'll look at the numbers. 75% sound - 25% numbers for me.

I had the high end White's detectors and I was always wondering if I was using the right program and reading the VDI numbers correct! It just took the fun out of detecting  I remember the old days when I had a 1266 and 1270 Fisher. Loved those detectors ! I guess I just got lazy, read too much about the new machines that were coming out at the time and wanted them ! What a mistake I made ! I have sold those detectors awhile back and went back to the beep and dig detectors :tesoro: I haven't regretted my decision. It's hell getting old and losing your memory. What used to be easy when I was young, is now a pain in the a$$ to do
