Find a detecting spot, work over the most obvious and productive spots, then leave it. Tomorrow I am going to 2 areas where I have found things in the past and will do 100% of each area and see what's left. These are tot lot type areas, sand & chip bark. We'll see. Sometimes I have a list of several places to hit and dont do the sites completely. Steve in so az
 
Most of the swimming areas I do, I try to grid the whole thing! Well at least till I get up to my neck! :)

Forest preserves. When checking out woodchips-If I'm not finding much in the obvious places I alway check out the open areas. Have found some nice jewelry like that.
