Do you always carry a detector with you?

Wondering if any of you always have one in your vehicle...

Ive been considering getting a cheaper model that I dont mind getting banged around and carrying it in my trunk at all times. Just in case I see a spot when I only have a few minutes.
Yesterday the rain stopped during lunch and I discovered that the YMCA now has soccer fields right on an area of a major confederate attack into my hometown.
Wished I could have hunted it. I mean, im looking for clad and Bieber medals, of course.

Since I got it in 2010 april, it has never left my side! I travel a lot, so it goes along and keeps me from sitting around in the bars, or, heaven forbid, GOLFING! I've even taken it with me in the boat when I'm fishing, just in case I find a campsite or beach...Mines an F70, not cheap, but not super expensive either. You find the right totlot when you have a half hour between appointments, and bang! Sure beats anything else I've done. I also carry a bottle of windex and some paper towels, not so much for the windsheild, but to wash up my hands afterwards. At the Mall, waiting for the Wife, I'll be sweeping the parking lot edges! Dang, I got it bad! That YMCA is a great spot! Some of the rich ladies in town go there during the winter to stay in shape, and they will be pulling off gloves in the parking lot and losing rings in the snow..

This is a Hobby for me. Something I enjoy doing..... But it's not a way of life.......

I do look for sites to detect as I am out and about though........... I do not carry my Golf Clubs in my trunk all summer either LOL

I can say this.If you enjoy detecting every chance you get.By all means carry your detector. Be prepared...............

Sorry to get off topic but you should never wash your hands with Windex. Windex contains ammonia and is not something you want entering your body. Over time it can have bad effects. Google it, please.

Thats great that you take it on the boat. Definitely cool to hunt places that arent as easy to get to. So hopefully not hunted ever before.

man, I didn't know that! Guess I'll just stick to using Carburator cleaner, its a lot faster and more effective anyway!

Except when I bring it in for the winter season I keep mine in the trunk for the whole season. If you see a short window opportunity like a construction site, or road work and you get on the spot permission, it wouldn't make sense to be using a less than what you would call your best machine. Just my opinion on it. CO

Yeah thats true. I was just thinking about the risk of it being stolen from your car or getting banged around over time. Not to mention intense summer heat and moisture in cars.
I guess since i have a lifetime warranty on my detector then I really dont have to worry about the latter.

dont quote me on the heat issue, maybe some of the other folks will weigh in on that.,Maybe Im careless on that. Ive never had an issue with heat etc. If it was a heat wave over 100 degrees id probably bring it in, i dont think i would be out detecting than anyway. If someone wants into your car, they will have their way. CO

I typically have mine in the car. It's no cheap "beater" detector either. I have never had any detector get banged around just because I have it in the back. I do worry about a car breakin sometimes.

I carry mine with me in "season" because you never know. However the season has temporarily been interrupted by another season. Deer season! So in order to have room for hunting "possibles" I've put the Xterra in the garage until deer season is over or my tags are filled. Which ever comes first! But I'm not done yet this year and so far we have no snow here in Central Indiana and the ground is not frozen yet. So more hunting is yet to come.

I have one in the trunk except for: 1. If it is going to be in the mid 90's or more. I am not going hunting. 2. Ground is frozen and snow. I am not going hunting. Otherwise it is in the trunk. I also have 2 coils in there. I never know when I will have an hour or so and near a park? See a new site. Or when opportunity will present itself to go detecting?
Thanks for reading and Happy Trails.....Z

brakecleen for me mudpuppy

Nope...not in California! Times getting tougher and more cars being stolen and/or broken into. Usually have some cheapo fishing gear all the time...always carry a digital point and shoot camera in my fanny pack but take a detector when I know I won't be leaving it in the car for an extended period of time. Had a 71 VW...put in a super cheapo KRAKEN radio with cassette...it was broken into at night in front of my house and the radio was pulled out but (I guess when they saw what they had taken and reconsidered) just left on the front seat! HA!!!

Most of the time I do.
