Do the numbers on the CTX and the Etrac match?

Dan(NM)

As far as the FE and CO targets go? It looks like they use similar scales for identifying targets, would that be correct. I have a CTX coming and was watching some videos and it seems they match up closely.

Don't have a e-trac but the #s are quite the same except the silver dollars in some modes and the fe #s are mostly on the 12 line fe . sube .

Here is the link to a chart I put up over on the CTX3030 Resource Center that shows TID numbers using the various modes.

Dan, don't try to use E-Trac FE/CO numbers to cherry pick targets. Not saying you are, but many do and I made that mistake in the beginning. The CTX has a wider spread of target numbers. How thin a coin is worn, of being on-edge can bring a silver dime down into the CO-38 area. Likewise, copper pennies (the old ones, not the zinc) can read almost like a quarter or even as low as an IH depending on thickness, surface corrosion, etc.

I usually hunt a new site by cherry picking to get a feel for what silver could be there and how deep it is. After a couple weeks I realized I was walking past a lot of likely silver dime signals. It's more productive to think in terms of zones. I dig everything CO-40 and above as a rule. If the site is old or the targets deep, I switch to a program I call "Indians and better" where everything from CO-32 and above is a high tone.
