Do Not Expect CTX Updates Anytime Soon

I do not expect any updates anytime soon.... here is the e-Mail I got on 11/24/2013:

Hello and thank you for your enquiry.

At this stage there are no new updates available for the CTX 3030.
For commercial reasons information about the development of new products or updates will always be published first via Minelab.com.

I am sure the many unique features already in the CTX 3030 will lead you to many great finds.

Happy hunting

I tell you what.. I have been a long time Minelab user, but I may go out and buy the ATX just to spite them for not putting out updates.

It's a shame that many business' respond more to the $$ than they do to customer desires these days. It's a state of where we are. I'll continue with them (because they make good equipment) as long as these two MLs I have hold up. But, when I'm in the market for a new detector down the road, I will remember their lack of responsiveness to what we've asked of them. Honestly, if they'd just give us one more bin on Combined mode, I'd shut-up and be content. I don't think that should be hard to produce.

Maybe we can force and update by exposing a couple of bugs.

How many can duplicate this bug?

When you are recording a GeoHunt, go to one of your modes and edit one of the patterns. Now exit and save the pattern. Now when you go back to your detect screen check to see if the red recording status light is on. My guess is that it is not. Also, when you press and hold the Find button, you will see that record is grayed out. The only way to start a new GeoHunt is to turn the detector off and back on. If enough people can replicate this procedure, then we have a valid reason for an update. And just maybe, if Minelab agrees, they may throw in a few more goodies.

Minelab has been working with me in trying to solve some issues, and might I add that they are really doing a good job of listening and trying to help. I sent this issue along to them tonight to get their take on it.

Be sure to let us know if you can duplicate this bug.

It just sounds like they aren't going to tell anyone about an update until it's available. That doesn't mean they aren't working on new firmware.

Want a company that does updates all the time and care about there customers get a dues XP I have both the XP with the 11 inch coil out hunts the Ctx every time anyways don't believe me try one three times faster processor and five year full warranty just saying

Aren't you the same guy that was telling us a month ago that you found a 150 silvers with the CTX this year? Since then has the Deus started outperforming the CTX?

I have to agree that it they are doing updates often, good for them for listening to their customers, or are they fixing problems that should have been addressed before they started selling them

I want 50 tones Combined! I want 50 tones Combined! I want 50 tones Combined! I want 50 tones Combined!

Speaking of design flaws/poor design, oversights or whatever (i.e. micro-fonts/poor status bar readability, clock placement, leakage, etc) regarding the CTX 3030, has anyone noticed that the user function (previous mode setting) is lost when the detector is powered down? This setting which allows one to configure the detector to be able to quickly switch between 2 different programs/modes & 4 different patterns, is lost when the detector is powered down. This is a great feature, but why not leave it set (like the rest of the user function settings) until the user wants to change it. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this or is it just my machine or a flaw/design oversight on Minelab's part? I have checked and this is the only one of the user function settings that is lost when the detector is powered off. I noticed this early on after purchasing the detector and have suggested (on the suggestions post) that a change be made to maintain the setting until the user changes it like all of the other user functions.

The thing that is troublesome about Minelab is that the aforementioned issues (other than leakage) are minor things that could be quickly fixed in micro-code/firmware if they were listening to/cared about their customers at all. These (not even mentioning new function) would just be tweaks to existing features to make the detector more user friendly. The lack of responsiveness on their part says a lot about the company and it's lack of concern for their customers!

As customers we paid $2500.00 for your Rolls Royce machine Minelab, don't you think that we deserve to a least have the minor flaws fixed?

How about at the footer of your email where it says you won't disclose or share the email?

Well, it's not like Minelab actually said anything anyhow..

Who paid 2400 dollars for your machine?

I update my ctx all the time. Switching this changing that. But I will agree more bins are needed. I'd also like the backlight to be a bit dimmer so I don't get night blinded.

Turn the backlight down to 1. :poke:

I also would like to see just one more bin. Maybe thats beyond their know how. Anyway a satisfied customer goes a long way an unhappy customer goes even further. Wake up minelab

I have and it's still too bright. I look like a beacon in the night when hunting. My buddies can always find me. I had to cut a vinyl smoke colored sheet to try and dim it.

It was designed that way to prevent night hawking....

They'll respond when we, as consumers, hit them at their bank account. The next time they come out with a new whatever (harness, detector, pinpointer), just don't buy one.

It is not a design flaw...... it is part of the design encompassed in the soft programmable functionality of the User Button. When you shut the detector off, then turn it back on, it starts up in the mode you had running when you shut it off. And since you just turned it on, at that point in time, there is no previous "hunt" mode. In fact, electronically, the previous mode would have been OFF.
