THIS POST IS ENTIRELY A TRIBUTE TO CLAD.... IF YOU HATE CLAD.... PLEASE DO NOT READ ON.... EVERYTHING IN THE POST IS ABOUT CLAD..... YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!.....

I have attached a picture of the clad I got in 2011, 2012, and 2013 so far.

2011 --- I started detecting in August of 2011 in Indiana County. Probably about 4 months at the end of the year, going out once or twice a week at most. The 2011 jar has the total clad from that year with my Xterra 705 and Fisher F2 as a back up. I hit a local park and a state park pretty much the whole time.

2012 --- My first full year of detecting in Indiana County. I upgraded my Xterra 705 to an Etrac. I also upgraded my backup F2 to a Teknetics T2 + a SEF 12x15" coil. Within a month I sold the coil and T2 and got an AT Pro as my back up. I cleaned out the local parks around Indiana, PA, hit some of the other bordering county parks, and hit a few Pittsburgh city parks. As you can see from the jars, I hit a lot more clad.

2013 --- I moved to Allegheny County just after the new year. I got a new V3i with the 10" DD coil and a 4X6 DD Shooter coil. I have the Etrac and AT Pro as backups (or as alts...they are awesome machines and I already hit my first silver with the AT Pro). The 2013 jar is so far this year. I just hunted 4 times now, and I think it's almost even with the 2011 jar (?) I plan hitting the clad in addition to the silver, the relics, and the gold out west for 2013. With the Lesche digger and the ProPointer, digging is like quick-surgery. In-Out-And-GotIt...

Think I can match my 2012 clad totals in 2013?..........................

I love clad! Hunting for it is so immediately rewarding! Plus, I believe it helps a person get very familiar with their equipment really fast. And of course, the clad zones are where theres some jewelry hanging about as well..great job!:clapping:

Well if you think about it Clad is a byproduct of MDing.I've never meet another MDer that bought a detector for clad hunting only.Depending on where you live and type of hunting you do...Relic,Old coins,Jewelry,...we make do with what we can and want to hunt in the place we live.
I live in a state that is a vacation destination as well as having year round family outdoor activities in the many sport/rec centers, large neighborhood parks, and miles of white sandy beaches.I've developed a routine as to what time of year, day,or hour I hunt those areas. In time, you figure the places your odds are best. All that clad I find while looking for jewelry and silver adds up through the years,...enough to buy detectors, accessories,....or lunch after that morning hunt!!
Never kept track of the penny's,nickles and dimes dug....only quarters... 5,340 and still digging...HH

Mud,
you may very well be the stab-n-grab clad king. I agree about the immediate reward. Hunting for old coins is also rewarding but pickings are becoming slim in my area. So, this year I am going to concentrate on my local public schools for clad.

Govid - I think you have a real good chance of surpassing your 2012 clad.

Bob-oz that is an impressive amount of quarters!

GoVid, Where did you live in Indiana Co. I grew up in Armstrong Co. (Rural Valley)

So if you detect and unless you have undetected private property. Silver is getting harder to find...

Just sayin'...So whats the market value of a silver rosie? 3 bucks? A silver Q, 5? If a fellow hunted deep silver on public land a hundred silver dimes in one year would be fantastic! But an accomplishment as great at that would be is still only WORTH @300 bucks...a dedicated fellow can bang out at least 1000 US bucks in clad per year..if he does not get distracted, and approaches clad hunting as a skill set to be mastered. if a fellow is quick on the targets, a fellow can grab a half dozen gold rings and two dozen silver ones per year just focused on clad hunting. Not to mention the paper dollars a fellow encounters hunting clad rich locations on the down wind fencelines. Like Elton mentioned, we are treasure hunters, a guy has to find something, depending on the locations available, increasingly fewer silver coins, and increasingly less fresh dropped clad as well. With fewer people dropping clad, gold and silver, these next few years should see a huge amount of hunters that are dedicated cladstabbers. I swore to myself I was not going to hunt clad this year...but, maybe y'all talked me back into it..it sure is fun, really awesome excersize, easy, and who knows? Big gold rings are out there in the clad fields from the last 20 years or so..
OK...that's the idea, a fellow gets very good very quickly with a machine hunting clad, then one day a fellow gets permission to hunt virgin silver at some mansion, and that's when its game on!

Last year I didn't count my clad but for this year for the last 4 weekends I have $83+ dollars on clad.
Today I stop at one tini park just to do little scouting and got 3 quarters, 2 dimes, 1 nickel and 1 wheatie because the rain ask me to leave, so I know
were I will be hunting as soon the weather clears.
GoVidGo. just keep on digging and later you are going to be like many other detectorits, just cherry picking for XX targets like Silver or jewelry.
HH.
