Do I have the correct coil?

I purchased my X70 several years ago used from a private party. I see the 9" coil has a tag on it that says "Standard 7.3 KHz" on it. Is this right? Isn't the coil supposed to be 7.5 KHz?

Thanks,

Bob

If you turn it on and don't get a CE (coil error) displayed, then is a functional Xterra coil. AFAIK, there were never any 7.3kHz coils ever produced for Xterra's. The all digital design and programming involved doesn't lend itself to odd off-frequency coils.

Beyond that, you can check the coil ID by the following procedure:
Press Menu/Select to enter the settings screen.
Press and hold Accept/Reject to view the coil identification screen.
Release Accept/Reject to return to settings.
Press Pinpoint/Detect to return to detection.
cS=Concentric Standard (7.5kHz)
cL=Concentric Low (3kHz)
cH=Concentric High (18.75kHz)
dS=DD Standard
dL=DD Low
dH= DD High

Would be interesting to see a photo of the "tag".

Thanks for the quick replies. I'll take a picture of the tag soon as I get a chance.

The coil ID's as cS when I push the accept/reject. My other coil ID's as a dH.

Thank you for the help. It must have gotten mislabeled by someone at some point.

Yeah....that's not a Minelab tag.
Glad that you have it sorted out now. :thumbup:

Those are both Minelab factory coils. They've made changes to stickers and locations a couple of times.

Interesting. I've been involved with the X-Terra's since they were introduced and have never seen one of the coils look like that. When did they produce them with the red Minelab logo at the rear of the mounting tabs?

I don't know the timeline on sticker changes Terry, but I found some pics of a couple other variations.
