Dman & VOL1266-X's CW Finds 10-22-08

VOL1266X

New member
Dman and I officially opened the Fall Tennessee relic hunting season last Wednesday. We returned to the US Camp area that we hunted last spring until the grass grew too high. We found that the soil was extremely dry and targets were hard to dig. The bullets were mostly dropped .54 cal. 3 ringers but Dman managed a nice .69 3 ringer and a .58 that had been loaded. The brass parts are both tops of two different styles of sword hangers. The irregular shaped lead pieces are cannister lead from where the Yankees test fired their cannons. We find a lot of those pieces in that area. We got over an inch of rain today so our next trip should enable us to hit deeper targets. Good luck from Tennessee.
