I saw a video on TV of this guy and his daughter using a bucket with the bottom cut out and had a piece of Plexiglas inserted in the bottom who found a piece of gold in a stream with it. They didn't give out any information about building this piece of low tech equipment and I was wondering if you need to put wholes in the sides of the bucket to help submerge it and cut down on the resistance from pushing it down in the water? Or use a piece of PVC fixed this way? Would this work in lakes and ponds with muddy water to find coins or jewelry I guess? I am worried about dropping my detector in the water and thought this might work in knee deep muddy water when I was at the local lake?
