Hi, "jongalt" ---
I'm thinking that we are neither divisive nor segregated. There are forums here which cater only to the owners of a single manufacture and model detector. We welcome all detectorists and, as you can see by browsing the entries, also use this forum to request and receive prayer requests so that we may be honored to pray for someone's situation, or receive prayer for our own situation.
And no, we are not religious. We simply believe in the essentials of the historical Christian faith, regardless of the "denomination" in which we choose to worship and praise the God and Father of us all, and in His son -- Jesus Christ the Messiah -- who while we were yet sinners died for us to pay the penalty of our sin. The accounts of the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus are not only documented in the Bible, but also in secular history accounts by such authors as Josephus, who stood to gain nothing from his accounts -- he was simply documenting events of history as our historians do today.
There is an old saying that advises, "If you are afraid of the answer, don't ask the question." We aren't fearful of closed minded. From you post I assume that you have an open mind. If you are of an open mind and seek all truth (and I believe we all seek truth to some degree in whatever subject we are pursuing), then you would have no problem with, or fear of, asking a non-existent God a question (as an earlier post suggested) and simply ask the question, "God if you are real and truly exist, reveal Yourself to me that I may know you and find the Truth." If there is no God, you have nothing to loose but the 8 seconds that is take to sincerely ask this question. However, if there really is a God, wouldn't you want to ask this one question (just to be on the safe side) to know the Truth and find the Way that God has planned for you Life? After all, you only have a 50-50 chance that you will be right -- will you take the time?
Welcome to the forum -- come back and post often to let us know how you are doing. I'm sure that more than just a few of us religious nuts will pray for the Truth to be revealed to you. We are taught to love and pray for you. Your post doesn't offend -- it encourages us.
