Diving with a 8" vs 10" excalibur

In the past when I have dove fresh water beaches I used an 8" Horseshoe Excalibur. I know if I dove the ocean I would use
a 10" Excalibur or 12" pulse. Any of you who dive have a vibe on 8" vs. 10" Excalibur when diving? Does the 10" have any negatives
like it's too big, gets in the way, multiple targets gets confusing? Thanks!

I think it depends on the search area. If it is target rich then the smaller coil would be the right choice.

If the targets are spread out then maybe the bigger coil is the way to go.

I am deciding on the 8" v 10" coil right now for either the CZ21 or Excalibur....my next purchase.

My Aquapulse (PI) has the 8", 10" and 15" coil but I have hit an old area where there are plenty of pure iron targets and I am needing some DISC.

I'm not sure that the extra 2" diameter coil will be a problem as far as sweeping through the water is concerned.
I have used my 15" coil in the water (10 feet down) and it was no problem in that regard.

Good luck,
Tony.

And here I thought I was the only one left with the Horseshoe coil.
I did put a waterproof connector on the original Excalibur so I can switch between the Horseshoe, 10 inch and 15 inch WOT coils.
The machine is still going strong after more than 20 years of detecting with it. The only part I have not had to work on are the headphones. An unbelievable detector!

I do not dive, but I would barrow one each (8 and 10" coil detector) and try before you buy. Each coil / detector has its pros and cons and the only way you can tell if the combination is right for you is to use it. Of course the environment might make a decision easier.
