Archaeologists Decry History Buffs' Digs

Some guys in suits showed up & said The POst won't allow their articles to be reproduced.... :biteme:
Oh well, it was trash anyways.......

I can (somewhat) understand the "archies" wanting to keep track of what is found where. However, I am disgusted by their "only we are worthy to deal with historical artifacts" attitude (not to mention private land owner rights). Hopefully, we can strike some sort of balance here in the U.S. that will allow for tracking and documenting important finds, but not ban hunting and owning artifacts. Maybe a modified version of what they use in England?

& Tony needs to put that plate back in the ground cause the archies will never know how the soldier lost it.......
whatta crock. The plows have been scattering those camps around the fields for over 100 years! :biteme:

there was alot in there that was offensive to me. Even little things like "camoflaged" & "safari hunts"....
I wear cammo pants only cause I like all the pockets for relics/iron/batteries/etc....does camo make us look like we trespass or night hunt??

It's just wouldn't be fair to the bird. If you guys read the article it's just gonna hack you off. They (The Archies) took a lot of cheap shots at us. It's the same old attitude...If we can't find it then nobody should find it. MAKE ME SICK! :puke: I'd like to see the State of VA cut some funding and then they would have to go get real jobs!

I thought the newspaper was trying to portray us as money-grubbing looters.

I also didn't appreciate the crack about the camo. Yes, I wear BDU trousers (weather permitting) and a US Army Field Jacket, but not because they're camo. I like the pockets, and the tough, ruggedness of the clothing. It's made to be worn outdoors, and worn roughly, at that. I'd happily wear blaze orange stuff, if it had all the pockets that the BDU's do.
