Distance and speed

What is the ideal distance from coil to ground when detecting with the Excalibur II in salt-water? And what about speed, left to right?

As close to the bottom as you can get it .For speed, sound travels at 1760 ft. per sec. slow or fast is what your arm can stand. So think about it. Happy hunting , Ron Lord , Naples FL.

as close as possible to the ground and i swing about a 4 sec swing from left to right. Minelabs are a bit slower to report than a Fisher or Tesoro.but they will find the goodies! on the beach my GT is hard to beat and in the water my Excal ll is awsome!

the speed of sound is 760 mph or 1125 fps thru air (much faster in water) radio waves (being emitted by your coil) travel at the speed of light 186,000 miles per second. none of these mean a darn thing about how fast to swing your coil!!!!!

i would recogmend what evers comfortable for you.

just having a little fun, not trying to make anyone mad!!!!

make sure if you're machine nulls out to swing at target from opposite direction, just in case there is something good being camoflauged.

steve :)

I drag level across the bottom, at approximately 1' per second. The Excal likes it! I DO wear through a coil cover about once a quarter though, or have to reapply epoxy about once a month, pick yer poison!
