discrimination?

Just got my new lobo last week, and have tried it out twice at a local beach. Works great, but I'm having trouble with discrimination. I brought along a gold ring and a bottle cap to try to set the disc, but the gold ring gets tuned out before the cap as I turn up the disc, so I've been digging every cap, nail etc, because I don't want to miss any gold. Is this normal, or am I missing something? I am getting pretty fast at digging though!

Yes it is normal, what you might want to try is to find where the bottle caps disc out and then where the gold rings disc out that way all you need to do is to turn the disc up on every signal to see if its a ring or a bottle cap.
