Discrimination with the new Garrett Ace Detectors

A

Hi, I have used the new ace 150 in a city park and have found coins with it. The ratio of screw caps to coins in this park is 20 screw caps per one coin. It would be nice to be able to discriminate screw caps, but they read in the coins area on the ID. Does the ace 250 read the screw caps as coins also?? Any feed back or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Yep, same as zincs!! You can use the Elim button and notch them out and you won't hear them anymore. I found myself in a similar situation a couple weeks back and just notched 'em out and went merrily along, digging copper pennies, dimes, quarters and nickles.

Mr. Hyde, I can not locate an Elim button on my 150 ace. The Screw caps appear on coins (Silver) when detected. I will have a friend of mine modify the detector to have screw caps pick up on pull tabs or rings. I am glad your 250 ace will eliminate the tabs and screw caps. Clay

Sorry I didn't pay close attention to the fact that you were swinging the 150. Let us know how the modification goes if you decide to do it.

Mr. Hyde, I sure will let you know. It will probably be about a month as I am a winter Texan and will not be back home until last of March. My son-in-law is an electronics technician and thinks he can do the modification. Will let you know. Clay
