discrimination vs depth.....?????

I run my GSII with high discrimination (6 on the dial) and my notch is about 6.5-7 on the dial. It's basically set up to work the high tones (silver/copper) and is set were zinckers are semi solid but choppy. That way I can either dig the zinckers or leave em at my discretion depending on the location I'm hunting. I dig no pulltabs, nails, nickels, etc.

Just curious if anyone has any idea of the amount of depth I may loose, if any, running such a high disc.????? My machine seems max out around 5" or so on a dime and maybe 6" on larger coins with these settings?

Thanks......

On my golden saber 2,if run my dis. at min notch at min and and notch off .I normally get a dime at 7 to 8 inches with the 8 inch coil.with notch on you do lose depth so I try not to use it much

I've only tried to determine this on one of my detectors. Up to the mid range, it doesn't seem to lose much depth, but as I increase the settings towards max from there, it definitely makes a noticable difference. Therefore, I have wondered if I've passed over clad or silver coins now and then when thumbing the disc and ended up losing the signal due to a depth issue rather than being a target that would disc out, anyway.

Thanks guys.... I'll try running with the notch off first and see if I notice any difference, then maybe play with disc level and see what happens? Think Tab mentioned trying notch off awhile back also.....

Yes, experimentation with YOUR machines will tell you what you need to know.
