Discrimination/Notch

I finally got my Sovereign GT out of the closet. I created a test garden with the usual stuff ie gold rings, pull tabs, nickels, dimes, pennies including wheat pennies, & Silver change, so I would know how to properly set up for the Discrimination/Notch controls. Then yesterday, I detected a soccer field from 1950. I ended up finding a 10K Gold Ring, a Sterling Silver Ring, a 1948 Nickel, and a 1930 Buffalo Nickel, which I did not even know I had found until I went through the change I had found and saw the buffalo on the back, which did not look the same as the more recent buffalo nickels. Then I looked at the date and I did a double check when I saw it was from 1930.

That is good finds , but exactlly what did you notch out before your hunt ? in your test garden ,ie foil ? pull tab,s ? . Jim

I notched out most tabs and I discriminated foil. Funny when I ran my test almost all of my nickels were notched out, but on the field where I hunted, I recovered lots of nickels plus the buffalo nickel? as well as the rings. I live in Corpus Christi, TX. I also had the same success on a field in Abington, pa. At another field in Rockport, TX, I was able to find a nice silver bracelet.
I just wish the CTX 3030 was this easy to figure out.
