Discrimination by sound?

On my ExII I base about 70% of my discrimination on the sound of a target, How bout you guys who have had you're E tracs for a while now? Are you using the tone as the predominant analyzer like many of the other Minelabs? I know there are many other sources of info no need to explain them. Just wondering if the machine reacts as good on the tone as I would expect. ( after it is modified to sound like the ExII.

Tones/sound are king on the E-Trac just like the Explorer line.A high silver warble is just as distinctive on the E-Trac as well.Very often I can tell an Indian from a wheaty by sound.

Sound always trumps ID. On ultra-deep coins (>8 inches), the E-Trac ID is often useless, but the tones are dead on. I've dug plenty of wheaties and silver that have read "01-38", "11-50", "01-41" all within a span of seconds, cursor bouncing everywhere, but they SOUNDED great. It's your duty to get 'em out of the ground!

I'll second that!

ID on the deepies the FE number will also go down towards Iron (eg FE 20 instead of FE 12), but tones are still good.
