Discrimination and Recovery Speed

When I had an E-Trac I basically ran TBGO minimal disc pattern. It disc

Albert, On my new mode I have zero descrim.. I am using combine and ferrous-coin.. I like hearing everything under the coil...My settings.... I can't tell you how much quicker it is than the E-Trac.. no it's not faster than the Deus or the F75, but it is a vast improvement and more stable!

Nice article Evan. It's becoming clearer that the CTX is NOT an E-Tac! For some strange reason I set up my pattern on exchange2 to disc out just the bottom right corner and will be using the combined mode much like you. I'll start with high tash and compare all sibnals to ferrous coin and vice versa.

Since you run wide open, what are you doing with the second pattern screen?

Can you just clarify something pease?

One thing that I am seeing is if the CTX gives an iffy signal, good tone/target/bad signal or a good signal only on one side then it is usually bad.

Are you saying Good targets are usually four way signals? The "/"'s got me confused.

Thanks,
Albert

One thing I know for sure:
If you are running trash density high (on the Etrac) with some discrimination (enough to knock out nails) the machine will lock on the strongest accepted signal, where as, if you are running with a wide-open screen the machine will report the strongest signal regardless of the density setting and that might not be a coin. I believe running with an open screen has its place in a very clean area with very little trash or iron. Now with the CTX, I have not a single clue, but I am sure with time it will shine.

Since you run wide open, what are you doing with the second pattern screen? Second screen with upper and lower part of the screen discrim.. but I don't use it.. I actually have the person button set up for last mode used, and have multitone conductive just to hear what it sounds like when I am over a good target. when I'm in a different mode..

No if when you swing over it that you hear a good tone from two swings one from each direction. left to right good tone, right to left good tone. The iffy signals I am describing ex would be from left to right good tone but from right to left bad tone, or vice versa.. Hope that makes sense...

Thanks for sharing your settings. I don't understand all what I read, but its all part of learning.

I 90% of the time hunt in clear screen. It makes the signals more accurate and stronger. It also clears up some iffy targets but it a high trash area it may be too hard to use.
