Discriminate target still audible

I was hunting a grassy park today in coin mode with discrimination. I was getting ferrous target hits that were audible even though clearly in the grey discriminated fields of the display. Why still audible?

Were they bleeding over slightly into the undiscriminated realm? Were they strong tones? If you had target and PP trace enabled, what did they show?

They were in the lower right area in the heart of grey. Several targets. I didn't dig them as i didn't want to get yelled at for digging holes (unless i thought it was a ring).

Yeah, probably iron wrapping around.

Most of the signal from the iron was being disc'd, but a bit was hitting in the open screen, even if the target trace didn't light up (probably too minor to make much impression). Usually the iron will hit in the top-right around Fe01-03 when it wraps around (Fe35 becomes FE01 easily).

So I should be able to mask it with a grey area set up there? Is that close to where quarters hit though?

If it is a case of iron wrap around then you can fix it with an old Etrac trick that I've been using on my CTX since I got it. I discriminate out 01-35 and 47-50 this stops the high chirps that mess with you. Be sure to leave open 36-46 for big silver.
