everybody has their own opinion, which detector has the best discrimination all round for parks, beachs, sports fields, you name it.i have a detector that no where i set the discrimination, will it rule out the unwanted signals.i have an open ear, tell me! blowfly

No matter what detector you use, the best discriminator is your brain.

Mine will chirp on some stuff that is disc. Out! It will lock on a large item or one on the surface sometimes also. I am starting to use disc less because I am overlooking the best stuff in the ground! I was told if you want old or gold..... Ya got to do a lot of digging! Good luck

you didn't say what you are using or what you're trying to disc. out. if your machine won't disc. out aluminum at full disc. then it sounds like something is wrong with the machine. sometimes the knob may be off and its not actual set where you think it is. i liked the minelab sovereign because you could set the disc. all the way up and still get indian head pennies.

XLT-DFX hands down for VDI accuracy digitally....6000 XL-SL best analog meter in the business...Unfortunately junk imitates a lot of the goodies so again to dig or not to dig...is the question..

Hi Blowfly,
Do you mean that no matter how high you put the discrimination, you still pick up ALL the junk, or just some of it?
Sapper.

hi sapper,i go to these soccer fields, that once were rubbish dumps and the amount of trash that's buried there makes it nearly too hard to detect in some spots of the fields.no matter how much disc i use,i still hear a lot of rubbish.i'm using my vaquero with a 5.75" widescan coil on it. bye for now, blowfly.

Hi Blowfly, in places like that I lower the sensitivity (on my Eldorado, down to 2 to 4). I find that helps the detector to sift its way through some of the rubbish, and with the Vaq. you should still get respectable depth. All the best, Sapper.

Yep......You gotta dig trash to find treasure......Thats what I read over and over......hh..........Dan

Not only all this, it's just not fair to discriminate. I've heard a law may be passed to stop this last form of discrimination. It's just not politically correct for this to go on. Even, some manufactures are considering new detectors without this hated mode. Hey folks, balls of tin foil, pull tabs, nails, bottle caps, they got right's to be detected too and are fed up with being left out. So, throw your draft cards away and turn off those horrible discriminators, and quit discriminating. There! Burp :drinking
