I was really excited today. I own a bh 505 with standard 8" coil, 4" and a ten inch coil. I also own a Compadre, and Two different vibraprobe pin pointers. I have been detecting for a year and a half now and have found 2 14k rings one with my 505 and one with my Compadre. I have been intrigued by the Discovery for some time though and read really good reviews and some info on this forum from darkflight about some finds. I finally found one for $90. The lady selling said it had only been used maybe twice. It still had the radio shack batteries in it and looks brand new. I cannot wait to try it out. All of my coils for the 505 should work on it. Can some one tell me how you add a quote at the bottom of all your posts and how you put down all of your machines you own. I am new to this forum and enjoy reading about all your finds. It makes days when you can't go out detecting more bearable and exciting. Thanks and happy hunting.

Congrats on the 3300! Great price!! Go to Control Center.....you can edit your "signature" there.

Good luck!

Thanks wasp. Now if only I had it here with me. My dad got into metal detecting last year when my siblings and I bought him one for a birthday-Christmas present. He picked up my Discovery3300 for me after I found it online in the classifieds in his area. I will be picking it up from him when I see him in Feb. I told him to try it out. He took it on it's maiden voyage pretty much. The previous owner used it about 30 minutes if even that. It still had the original Radio Shack 9 volts in it. He found 4 nickels In 20 minutes. Good news for me when I get it. For some reason I enjoy digging nickels. I guess maybe it is that you found one after digging a bunch of pull tabs and foil. Thanks for the info on the signature. Good luck all and hh.

The 3300 is my first MD. I just ordered an E-Trac, but will be bringing my 3300 along with me when the conditions get a little wet. In one month I found about $7 in clad, 3 Mercury Dimes, and a few spent shell casings. It's a really good MD and finds the silver easily 3-4 inches down. I haven't found any deeper than that though. Just remember though, if you use any discrimination you'll lose some depth. Better to just listen to all the tones rather than lose any depth. :)

keep the sensitivity very low on 3300 until you learn the md as digital meter can jump around
recommend hal way point or less to start
start off with a very quiet non trashy or busy place

I plan to use it on almost all metal or if not there pretty close to all metal. That is the setting I have found some of my best finds on my other detectors. I especially like to hunt wide open areas like soccer files on a low discrimination. More of a chance in finding jewelry that way. Thanks for all the suggestions. I will have to post what I find my 1st time out. Would be nice to find some silver with it first time out.
