Discovery treasure baron problem

My unit will power up but is unable to operate properly. When i pass metal over the coil, it goes crazy and will not stop even when the metal not there. i have to kill the power to reset it, also it Has no disc. If anyone has any ideas of what the problem might be or how to fix I would be very grateful
Thanks

take it apart and look over everything, maybe the coil wire down by the coil itself is messed up. but take a look inside can't hurt anything. look for something that just don't look right, smell it does it smell burnt, not that there is that much voltage going though one of these machines. but like i said you can't break it anymore than what it all ready is.

thanks
i took it apart tonight every looked ok, a little dirty in some places on the board. Also unhooked speaker and only used head phones, which help stabilize the responds when passing, metal by the coil, but i can't get the machine to disc. at all it seems like it is always in pin point mode. i am wondering if the toggle switches are broken, i have not been able to adjust any of the setting. Any ideas?

Us a good electronics cleaner and clean the pots, and the switches. maybe the switch is messed up check the continuity maybe with a tester? im not an expert just know enough to break things and sometimes i get the job done tough and fix it LOL. good luck with it.

Mr. Bill at surfscanner.com might can help you out. He may even do repair work on these. He is a sponsor of Find's Treasure Forums and sometimes post on the DetectorPro Products Forum here at findmall.com.

Mine did the same thing once, when cache hunting. A ground wire was loose in one of the antenna's.

That cost me a cache as someone else got it a few days later, with about 100 gold coins.

Take a look at the coil cable connector that attaches to the box , take it apart and make sure two wires are not touching.
