Digging It

Well the snow was gone yesterday and it hit 70 degrees so I got out for a few hours to do some coin shooting . I have a new tracker IV and a discovery 2200 that I picked up at a pawn shop . I started at an old resort and swimming hole with the 2200 in disc mode and while I did find a couple of pennys and another Missouri tax token I mostly dug trash even though the display would show good targets and the tones where high pitched that should mean coins . This place is very trashy with tons of tabs and caps . Then I used the tracker IV in full disc mode and covered some of the same areas and dug 20 or so coins and only a couple of trash items . I then moved to another swimming hole a few miles away that is just a shallow little creek that is popular with moms and tots in the summer it is much cleaner just a few tabs . I grabbed the tracker IV first and about a foot from my car door was a tree stump that I thought looked like a good spot to sit down on and my first swing sounded like morse code all good solid tones so i started digging and I dug 22.00 in change all within a foot around that stump . A few more passes in the gravel where people park turned up another 5.00 in clad dimes nickels pennys and one quarter . Then I got out the 2200 and after a half hour with it I had only found a couple more pennys even though it would show good targets and tones it was mostly tabs and fishing sinkers . So far I am convinced that the Tracker IV is a much better machine for coin shooting I will be going out today to an old log cabin site and plan on searching with both in all metal mode for relics to see what kind of depth I can get and will compare each machine on same targets before I dig and post the results .
