brand new to the site, from florida.just picked up a discovery 1100 and would like to have any opinions on this machine-thanks

Don't know what you paid for it, but in general they are much better than you would expect for the money. I have the 3300 and have found more than enough to pay for it in less than a year. Whatever you do, be sure to use headphones while detecting, or your batteries will not last very long. I use the nine volt rechargeable batteries and they will save you a lot of money in the long run. Good luck and happy hunting!!

I am a rookie hunter and I too own an 1100. I have (with the help of folks here) become more proficient and am really satisfied with it. I know that it ain't top-o'-the-line stuff, but I swing and I enjoy it immensely. Cause, ya know, the next dig will be the mother lode!!!! Have fun and HH.

I generally never end up with a hole bigger than 4" when I dig. The more I hunt the more I learn. One ? tho... How would gold tone on the 1100? Would it be high?
