Discerning good and bad signals

I noticed today that a choped up aluminum can will give a broken but good signal it seems when aluminum is crumpled or wrinkeled it will give a stutter or broken signal whear a solid flat object will give a moor pure shur signal even a flat steel washer gives a good signal but somthing bent of wrinkeld up goes broken took a lot of digging crumpled aluminum to figure it out gunnar bradford minnesota

Yes the can slaw can be bad this time of year...I had a park where it was giving a good signal....not the usual broken signal a few weeks ago..it was hot and drove me nuts...good observation.

So true, but then after you get those pieces of aluminum out of there, you might find that special coin underneath. Or that gold ring!!

Some combinations of mixed coins especially at depth will produce some goofy ID responses that you would swear was junk.Every signal response not dug is always a potential good find but most of us including myself try to discriminate between the ears and play the percentages.Good observations Gunnar.HH Bill
