Disappearing volume on F 70

I went to a local park today and took advantage of the Nice weather. I had the F 70 and took it into a chip box play area. While I was there I was finding common things such as pull tabs, trash, and coins. I was swinging away having a good time when I seen a coin on top of the ground, swung over it and Nothing... What I tried Ground Grab and No sound at all. I stood there looking at my machine, and thought... Do I have to send it back? I went over to a bench and sat down, turned it off and then back on. I waved a coin over the coil and got a good signal, then I looked at where the On/Off Volume control was and thought. From swinging it ( with my right arm ) I had turned the volume down by brushing it against my side while metal detecting!! Wow was I relieved to see this.
I then went back over the Part that I had just cover and found what I had missed.

That's happened to me to.---I might try pulling the knob off & adding an O ring.--Has anybody tried this?

I was thinking along the lines of opening up the case to see if I could make the nob shorter, then put a smaller nob on it. that way the nob won't stick out as far. OR put something over the top of it to protect it from being accidentally moved. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Something over the knob or an "O" ring sounds like a better idea to me.---Opening the case or shortening the shaft--those kind of alterations, is going to void the warranty.
