I stopped by the dealer that I bought my 1236-x2 from. I was close by so thought I would kill some time there. I had my 18 yr. old daughter with me.

I told the guy that I was thinking of trading the 1236 for something else. He was very rude. He flat was not going to let me trade in the 1236 for other units. I looked at a used CZ5. He said it would not handle Iron. He said a Prizm 4 was not as good as my 1236. No matter what I brought up he would have reasons why I should not get it. I finaly reminded him that I was willing to pay any extra amount.

I can only guess that he just did not want to deal with the 1236.

He also said that some dealers would request that 1236-x2 units be set up like mine to get more depth. He said I should just use the silencer always and not worry about the fact that disc. only works to about 4" on this unit.

I can of cource send the unit to Fisher and request they modify the disc.. He said he would not though because I would lose depth. Hmmm!

I was very polite to this guy because that is just the way I am. My daughter said when we left ....Dad I don't like that guy he was very rude to you.

Oh well I have vented lol.
 
I should clarify. This unit will not disc. beyond about 4" in normal mode. It seems to disc. as should with the SILENCER on. I can't tell if it loses depth with the SILENCER on or not in air test.

If the dealer would have given me 150 $ on a trade credit for that CZ5 I would have a CZ5. :)
 
My 1236X2 discs out nails just fine, I have not tried to disc out pulltabs because I want to hear that range of targets, Some of my best finds have been in the pulltab conductivity range. As far as dicrimination is concerned, I think Fisher "nailed it on this machine, I really like it. I went to my local town lake after a rock concert, and found that running in iron preset, I could pass the coil over steel twist off beer caps it would give a short clipped sound......Perfect discrmination IMHO..........Hombre
 
Bill, I spoke a tech. at Fisher Lab. I am sending the unit to Fisher to be calibrated. He assured me that the disc. should work up to 8" on this unit.

Very polite and helpfull folks at Fisher.
