sov/ excaluber user is there away to discriminate pennys on the beach an not lose other good items? i seem to find alot of them thanks

Why would you want to? In checking some of the mens gold bands I have found, some hit just like a zinc penny on my metered machines. If you want to find the gold, keep your disc set just to knock out the iron and scoop all the rest.

I can relate. While I don't hunt the beaches often, I tire of finding the corroded US zinc cents where I do hunt. I would just as soon not have them there at all. Almost all of them are worthless to use because of corrosion which ranks them right up there with the pulltab. At least pulltabs are aluminum and can be recycled.

I think the best way to discriminate out the US cent is to beach hunt in a country that doesn't use them....... :)

Good luck

I to agree with leaving the disc down to zero or 1. The only thing is we all find the zinc penny's, I have saved them up a few at a time and turned them into the bank so I can get them replaced with new ones. That's my only solution with them.

thanks for the replys. the beachs around wilmington nc have alot of guys working them so i thougt they must have some way to disc pennys i had a pi sand shark and dug all. it takes alot of time to dig the nail hooks boby pins ect.

Can you put a couple of pics up or ring weights with the carat on those of yours that hit at zinc penny? Ive only found two in alot of years hunting that hit that high, sounds like youve found a few also.
when I hunt with a metered machine I dig zincs on down, never above unless Im bored or finds are really scarce.

I had on my MXT machine a Tiffany silver charm hit at a penny, This charm I found for someone who lost it at a house. On myGT I had a 179-180 on my meter and I found a really nice silver ring
