Dirt fishin', ice fishin', it's all the same. Well, the results are anyway. :D

My son Rich was home for the hoidays. He is the only one of my kids that is interested in detecting and we have had a lot of great trips and finds together. He now lives in Chicago, BUMMER. We went up to the local lake to throw rocks and goof around, you know, guy stuff. We got to kidding around and he thought it would be funny if I posted a picture of him detecting on the ice. The area was full of driftwood, and a lot of rocks had been thrown on the ice by the time we got there. He even took his coffee along to keep warm on his ice hunting gag trip.

He was just goofing around for the camera when he got a hit. The water is a good 20 feet deep under the ice here. What the heck??

Well, I told him that the probe would make a great ice pick, and recovery effort was began.

Now matter where a feller hunts, you just can't get away without a pesky pulltab. It must have been thrown on the ice and melted in in the previous weeks.

That is all the hunting we have done for a long time. The ground around here is frozen as hard as a tax man's heart.

This gag was Rich's Idea. I wanted to take a pick and open up a whole in the ice and jump in with my water detector and swim trunks, but like my kids are used to doing, they held me back.
