Dinky Toy Plane

Back in February we had to put my wife's 93 year old aunt in an assisted living facility. Her house is two hours away so I don't get down there that often. Yesterday afternoon I drove down to mow her yard. Got through mowing but was nearly dusk. Maybe 25 minutes left before dark set in. Grabbed the Racer 2 out of my car for a quick hunt before heading home. 1st good target & started digging. About 4" down, pulled this little airplane out of the ground...

The Gloster Meteor was the first British jet fighter and the Allies' only operational jet aircraft during the Second World War. My dinky plane is called the Gloster Meteor introduced in 1946.

Found a 1963 Jefferson nickel & a piece off of a toy derringer. Had nearly as much fun researching Dinky Toys as I did pulling the plane out of the ground. This was my first Dinky Toy.

Nice find and great research. I had no idea that the Brits had a jet fighter during WWII.
