I am currently hunting a grass area (high trash) adjacent to a freshwater beach with the 10.5" coil. I was just wondering if I'm missing good targets if I first use smartfind, then switch to digital to make sure it isn't iron (digital 31). I will sometimes get what seems to be a good signal & sometimes bouncing crosshair indication; at that point I switch to digital. I circle the target(s) & get a variable reading ranging from say 22 to 30/31. At that point I have been calling it off, dismissing it as just another "lying" iron target. Is this a mistake? Could there be a good mixed with iron, & would an 8" coil help? I'm very new to the hobby & the explorer, and appreciate any help or suggestions!

Could be, best way to tell is to dig a few.. after a while your ears will get used to whats good and whats bad...sorry for not giving more info, but without hearing the signals myself, its tough to give advice
