Digital Meter Question

I know its not a good idea to rely strictly on the digimeter, but i must admit i like to have it in that mode when im searching. if i hit a consistent number and its deep enough, i usually dig, esp. after verifying it on the smartfind & attaining a good tone.
My question is what numbers have good targets been showing up on other than mainly "28".
Do any good targets (non iron) show up as "0"?
Does anyone know what # gold coins show up as?
Thanks!

I am a rookie at this but I have done some tests with my detector and when testing gold rings
of different size and bracelets my digital will read a very low number on readout 1-5
and the sound is very distintive Do some testing with your detector
get some gold things together and sit on the couch you can pass the gold over the top of the coil so its easy to see the diplay then take notes
Good luck Dave from KY

In my experiance nickles will show at 4 or 5. Gold items have a real wide range depending on size and alloy contint. They can show anywhere from 1 thru 14 but usually below 7. 7 thru 20 is usually junk as is 0 which is almost always foil. I short most of the good stuff is going to be 5 and under or 20+. Silver is almost always 27 or above.
