Digital cz

Does the digital cz Id at depths as good/better or worse then the metered cz's. My ground is rather mild, and I'm looking to try one out.....I have had the 1270,coin strike and 1236 x2. And would like to try the dual freq Fisher....Does anyone know if Fisher will come out with another dual freq detector or are those a thing of the past.......I wonder why they stoped ? I really would like to try a cz5 or cz3d. I wasn't sure if the digital varieties had any pro's or cons to them. Thanks guys

1. They're about the same. I've got each, and see no real difference in that area.

2. Fisher is working on a couple of new units...rumored to be multi-freq...no other real info available.

Here's my take on the biggest differences:

1. Digital units are slightly slower to respond to pinpoint button, and menu changes/adjustments. There's a slight hesitation when you press the buttons.
But...digital units allow you to customize your accept/reject ranges. For instance I've got my digital CZ set up to accept Iron, Foil, Nickels, and upper Coins (no tabs or zincs).
That let's me hunt relatively modern areas like sports fields that might have gold rings in the foil region, but not have to listen to all the tab trash.

2. The analog units are faster to operate...and let you make quicker, more precise adjustments to GB and Sensitivity. If I'm looking for older coins, it's with the analog 3D.
Generally speaking, all the non-water CZ's have similar sensitivity/depth.

Thank you Mike....I think I'm headed towards the anolog style cz....my old coin strike was alittle slow too with the button response. I belive the cz will fit great in my arsenal for hunting deep silver in parks and wet sand on the coast. I mostly hunt old home foundations but I already have a few machines that I like for that. Actually the 1270 did a great job at that.

I have owned just about every CZ model made. So far as depth, they are all so close in performance that I would not recommend one over the other. I prefer the the CZ3d, CZ5, or CZ6a over any of the digital units. Why? These units are able to be fine tuned with their sensitivity. The digital units have sens in increments of two. Most must be in the sens of 4, but some of the earlier could be adjusted higher without any drawbacks. I did have one complaint with the CZ3d and that was the pinpoint audio. The detector could produce an accurate high tone on a very deep coin, but when I used pinpoint, I could not get any audio. This was on extemely deep coins(9 inches plus). When this happened, I would have to dig a bigger plug and "X" the target in disc mode. I have used many detectors over the years and ANY CZ will out depth any that I have tried. If I had to pick one CZ, it would be a CZ3d. High tones on nickels, silver, Indians sure is nice. As a matter of fact, the first place I tried one of the first 3d's was an old school and the very first high tone was an old V nickel. I sure wish Dave J and his team could design a new CZ platform.

Some of digitals are as Hot as analog's if you can find one that can be run with Sens.at 6 or More with out falsing. A lot can't Be run past 4 Sens. Maybe it is luck of the draw,But I owned every model made a few times over and the Hottest ones I had were all analog's. All CZ-3D's except one CZ-5 that I could run wide open if need be. JMHO.

Depends on the tuning of each but on the whole are equal but the digital has notch abilities while the analog is quicker to adjust and can be set finer and quicker..
Also much easier to get the analog repaired or tuned as the digital is no longer made and parts and such could be a problem...
Either are favorites of many due to personal preferences...

Had both and prefer metered.
Now when the new cz/f75* Ltd comes out I want one of them.:fisher:

The biggest and most important difference is that there are no parts for the digital CZ's, so if anything goes wrong with them, they can't be repaired by Fisher.
