Digging Junk

Bill in Texas

New member
:detecting: I totally believe in digging junk when I think I have a good location, but sometimes it is overwhelming. I found a spot that I am pretty sure there is good targets in (I already found one), but it is full of junk. This area is only about 10 square feet. There is so much junk in this area that my main detector would not point at anything to dig. Well I got my chair and my Tinytec pin-pointer out and cleaned out the trash down to about one inch deep on about 1/4 of the area. To my surprise, I also found a couple of good targets. I plan to clean the rest of the area with the Tinytec before getting the big detector back out to work this area. I know I will find more trash with the big detector and will clean it out also. I think that I have a very good chance of finding a piece of gold there. Are you using your pin-pointer to its full potential? They make great shallow detectors in tight places and around water faucets and other metal objects. Bill in Texas :tesoro:

Haven't used my pinpointer in that way, but do switch to 4" to 7" coils with good results in trashy areas.

ive got several spots like that, the compadre handls the trash well what i like is i dont have to keep getting up and stooping down i just sit on my bucket and inch forward and yes i think a good target will apear because most detectorists will just avoid an earea like that

I've got a spot like that, have thought about taking a shovel and a large sifting screen, and cleaning it out 1 shovelfull at a time.

I have 2 silver rings from this spot,I know there is more ,if I can get to it.!
