well I went to the park today and decided to dig everything, I dug the normal can slaw, pop tabs, about a buck in clad, was about time to go and I said one more target then I have to meet my wife for lunch.

well I get this signal at 3" deep that bounced back and forth from zinc penny to iron, I almost did not dig it because I hated to end the day on a piece of trash, but I also knew IH pennies have been dug here before and my ace registers them as a zinc penny. So I dug it, and boy am I glad! I got this super shape 1898 IH penny and this rusty nail was RIGHT BESIDE it............goes to show you digging them all does pay off!!!

yes that is where zinc ring up for me, give it a test, get yourself a copper penny (pre 1982) and a newer one and air test them, they should show under different notches. I dig ALL zinc signals because 3 rings I have found have also rang up as a zinc penny

Cool man!!!
And at only 3", here we have to dig down at least 6", but beleave it or not, memorials are found that deep too!!!

yeah I dug several modern coins today at 4-5" but the thing is you NEVER know how each individual coin will sink

I never dig coin signals because of depth, I dig em all!!!!

It depends on what Im looking for at the time. Just clad, I dig all the coin targets, but old coins, I dig only deep ones.:detecting:

Yeah the nail confused your tector. IH's, which are mostly bronze, register below cent on the scale. Ain't you glad you dug it?

and this paricular park is real hard clay, I have not dug anything there deep at all, I assume things don't sink very fast in clay

Sweet! I've ignored a lot of bouncy signals because they all seemed to be junk in the past. Guess I'd just better dig everything, too!
