Digging all pos numbers

If people say dig all pos number then why do you need a unit that gives you info on your target? I was looking a DVD about brand X and they even said dig all pos numbers.I dont understand, if I buy a detector so it can give me info on the target and I am told dig everything pos.I know I am missing some good finds not digging all pos numbers, some places I would need to be there two days in a 24ft by 24ft area. And for the person in brand X DVD you say you dont even take the time to dig dimes, let me know and I will dig the dimes.
Just thinking to much about this.

type thing to maximize finds and get what others miss in iron or bad ground conditions. It is not absolutely neccessary for typical coin hunting.
Out of curiousity is that the free ML DVD for their new machine? What ever, its the same advice we have been giving on the C$ and Excel for quite a while now.

Just my take on it.

I didnt mean anything by this, what does "what ever" mean.Just saying if you dig all pos number then why even buy that detector for what it offers. It just seemed funny you hear that allot and from other brands too, to me not a good selling point its like saying," My detector will do this this and this for info on it read the forum" and the people on the forum say dig all pos numbers.

On digging coins in a scool yard is a whole different game than digging relics at an old battleground or campsite, when your'e after the relics usually, or what i do, is i even dig the iron signals, might be part of a cannonball or harness, or some other CW item, uniform accuretment or such, in a schoolyard, busstop or such you can almost use the factory coin mode, but sometimes you still stumble onto a ring or so by accident, just gotta think it out and see what you want to dig or go after, all brands and types are the same, just some do some things better than others, and some are more flexible and you can set them for whatever you want, but for me:fisher::fisher::fisher::detecting::usmc::usaflag:

Tom,

My whatever comment simply referred to what was going thru my mind while I typed the reply. Which is, based on all the posts I have read about it so far, the new ML's operating characteristics mirror very closely the digital Coinstrike and Excel. Call it what you want, DPA or DSP or software based, the new machines have quick reactions which makes them seem to be "busy" in their target response to a lot of folks. Throw in the old bugaboo of iron and the way they respond to it and it can be hard to adapt. Read Christopher(OH) post about his buddy that he sold his C$ to. He took to it like a duck to water and has had great success with it. Not everyone takes to a detector like that and why you see a lot of guys lamenting the passing of all the analog machines that is currently going on. There is good and bad to both. Find what works for you and hang in there.

As far as your question of why have TID if you have to dig it all, thats easy. No TID machine with todays technology can possibly be accurate all the time. Depth, mineralization, co-located targets all can throw off the ID. If you read the reports on the new machines many times guys report on whether or not it "saw" something at a pounded site. It doesn't always mean the new detector is better if it found stuff missed before, but can be an indication of its overall performance. Sometimes that find they are referring is only the slightest indication of something there that other machines missed, either because it did not have the ability or perhaps just because it is a new machine and the operator is paying close attention.
