Diggin' in the dirt question

bandroadman

New member
The area I live in (Ft. Worth, Texas) has two types of soil. Black dirt that is extremely hard packed about two/three inches down and very hard to dig in. Or. Rocks everywhere with very little soil.

I'm getting signals that show 4-8 inches deep that are just about impossible to get to in this very dry weather. I've got good digging equipment and it still almost impossible to get that far down.

There seems to be a ton of trash in this metropolitan area and everything seems to be well hunted, so I'd be interested in ideas of where to hunt as well.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Having said all the above, I LOVE this new hobby and intend to stick with it!

just an idea,if you can Cary some water whit you, when you get a good hit pour some water in your hole to soften the dirt.i hope it helps you:shrug:

Carry a strong, long handle screwdriver with you. It's much easier to poke into the hard dirt, then you can easily break up the dirt. Use a pinpointer so you know exactly where the target is so you don't have to do any extra digging. Good luck!
