Hey guys, Guess I got too much time on my hands and I'm just enjoying this V3i a bit too much. I've been searching for a video solution for the V3i for a while and finally found it. For a while my idea has been to able to video the screen and some of the coil/ground so as to be a bit of a learning tool but to make it enjoyable to watch also. Re-watching my videos has really helped me to see things differently, be more conscious of and improve my technique. I'm still working on everything as this is brand new for me. Any suggestions you have would be appreciated as hopefully this benefits us all. This is part 1 of 2. I'll get part two up tomorrow. They are each about 12 and a 1/2 minutes long. I dropped the resolution to 480 but it still looks great - it just takes too long to upload the 720 content when it's long. The glare is not too much of an issue I think. Anyway...
Here is my You Tube description:
This is the first part of a two part dig and includes 6 targets. My intention is for it is to be somewhat educational as I am not saying what the target is (no editing - all videos spliced in order of hunt). In other words you get to hear the targets and see the screen before I dig. It is a good chance for new, potential and experienced V3i users to judge the sounds and the spectragraph/polar plot analysis/pinpoint - I will do the same - great study tool. I'm also running threshold so you can listen (and see the negative VDI's) for the sound to dropout.
See if you can guess which digs are what targets. There is one scene with what I thought was large iron and didn't dig, just to give newbies a tip. You can hold the coil a foot off the ground and still get a beep (can't see that that well in the video though). The following were recovered, not in the correct order: Pulltab, aluminum staple, 1924 coin, small junk, nazi pin. You will also get to hear me talk some bad German to a visitor (and never see the small junk) as well as sporadic commentary. Look for part two...
My settings range:
Rx 8-12, Disc 90-95, AM 75, Filter 5 or 7.5 (Normally I run the filter at 5 but after a rain 7.5 quiets things down with all the wet iron. The salt setting also helps. Note - it rained all day yesterday), Correlate w/ 35 span, Recovery Delay 42, Autotrack on.
I dug more targets and can say that 30% of my targets were keepers and that could be 50% if I wasn't just having so much fun guessing what it was that I was hearing. Still learning the machine...
ps - I'm trying to make these somewhat educational so any feedback (like on camera angles, volume, etc.) is appreciated!
