Diggers back on

Watched the new season opener. Glad for the guys digging the great targets. Also liked the plugs for public responsibility etc. What was that detector that they claimed could hit at ten feet? Must cost a bundle. Hope it doesnt get over produced though. Seemed like this episode was noisier, more screaming, more yelling, loud dramatic music, more somersaults, etc. I know the one was a deep target, but Im not sure ive ever seen a bulldozer on the show before(like some other show that used to air, boom....) Id be the first to admit id probably do a flip (if i could) finding 1700's coins like that. Im not complaining and hope the show continues and will see if that hype continues.. Part of the appeal for me last year was like the realism, like you where there digging with them, diggin up junk, and how quite it was alone in a field etc., Cant wait for this snow to go away here in the northeast. I for one 'am getting too old to do flips, summersalts, screaming and acting like an idiot when finding some 'astonishing' target at a historic site, a site gotten with special permissions. I might break something and that 'astonishing' target could be my last!

I wouldn't be surprised if some of those 'astonishing' targets those idiots find are planted. Where would that show be without 'astonishing' finds?

I do not watch those guys acting like total idiots. They cost me a chance to detect a piece of property that may have been a camping area for the Confederate soldiers. The Male member of the family told me that he had seen "That Show on TV" and he would not allow anyone who acted like that on his property. That was after his wife had invited me to come detect their property. In my mind they are doing more damage to our image than we will ever be able to repair.

You can see the cuts in the ground on some of those "finds" before they start recovering the target. They are V shaped with the top of the V as the hinge.

Watched the second installment, at one point literally had to turn the volume down, im not just saying this to bash the show, but i was getting a head ache from all the screaming and dramatic drum beats, really. It was amazing at the number of artifacts they threw at the screen in the opening minutes, I guess quantity does count. They got to hunt in some mild soil, Ive found 3 or 4 ox shoes in my hunting, they all where crusty, rusty things, i couldnt believe how nice that shoe looked as well as the ornate, unidentified, maybe a stove door that came out of the ground in such wonderful shape, that soil is amazing. Im glad i didnt hear a snap when hurdling that small evergreen one of them seemed to misjudge its height. Again compared to last year the show seems more manic, and sensationalistic CO

Other than the "money" they make. Why would two grown men act as they do....

I agree with the post here about their doing more harm to the Hobby of Detecting than anything I have ever seen.

Climbing trees, jumping on bushes, almost breaking a detector by falling on it on purpose. Acting like fools....... I also find it amazing that all they mention is pretty much what they "FIND" while detecting..

LOL... I detect, and if I watched that program before I went detecting.. I wouldn't let me detect.........

That show should have a pre announcement "For entertainment only"... Few actual people who metal detect act the way these two actors act... I personally think they should wear clown make up and clown clothes while filming..

Makes me wonder why Garrett supports and advertises them on their websight:rage: I would never buy products from a company that approves such behavior:nopity:

I think Garrett is selling a lot of detectors to newbies wanting to find all of the good stuff those two actors are "finding". Newbies seems to be the market Garrett is selling to since they really don't have much to compete with in the high end market.

As a "newbie" I can say I am not a fan of the show either. When I first started, the plugs I dug could have hidden a body! But after reading forums like this and watching instructional videos, etc., my plugs are hard to find the next day. I am proud of that! And I did NOT learn this from "DIGGERS!"

Sensationalism journalism....yuk! Just remember, EVERY show on T.V. is scripted........even my favorite show, SURVIVOR!

LOL. My feelings too. I try to watch the show but have to turn it after a few minutes. If i ever hear someone use the term nectar while metal detecting , Then Im leaving them stranded.

I sent National Geographic an E-Mail letting them know how much I detested the show. Of course they will never answer.

I watch it "for entertainment purposes" occasionally, and it does give me a laugh or two at times. What really bugs me is when you hear all the random beeps when they sweep their coil that were obviously edited in - if the producers would fake that for entertainment purposes it does make you wonder what else might be faked.
