Did we get a definitive answer from Minelab as to whether or not they are working on a software update for the headphone incompatibility issue - external speaker not shutting off?
I'm not trying to open a can of worms. I understand that Minelab did thngs according to industry standard. I just want to know if Minelab has plans to change the software to accomodate headphones that weren't wired to industry standard.
Hi Reese - Minelab never addressed the software patch as far I know. They released that PDF after the fact though :-(
Gray Ghost told me they have no plans to rewire headphones due to it creating problems for other detectors, so much for industry standard.
Even if it's not Minelab's fault, if it is possible, and I think it is due to my findings in that thread I made, it would be a great gesture on their part.
In my mind, just make people happy, even if it isn't your fault so to speak.
Albert
ps - The adapter is working so far. I haven't come down on it (yet.) But would much rather just be able to plug my headphones in without it sticking out 2" in the back.
pss - If we are consumers, you are not opening a can of worms by making a request. The idea of software upgrades is there to fix things. If something can be fixed, again regardless of fault, then why not make us happy. Many people with the starter pack are affected.
I Salute Minelab for making it available without the wireless module .....If i want wireless phones i will incorporate the module into the head set.....Not the headset into the module....Then it will truly be wireless...
to cut your plug off and rewire the jack or put a jumper wire on the water proof adapter is not rocket science....they posted a schematic its all there to see....I applaud their efforts to make and keep World Standards....
the headphones that come in the starter pack are good phones UR30's nothing cheap about em....have better sound range than a lot of the after market phones......Ok so maybe your dog will only be able to hear those
highs but the fact that KOSS land phones are good is not the question....... transducers ....well we will see .....if your ears are full of water all you have to hear is the beep over the bubbles....
you do NOT see the water hunters getting down and dirty yet .....But it is coming....wading up to your knee's......Naw aint what i'm talking about....least get your snorkel on if not your airline....hooka... question should
be.... will we really want to TELL.... may take our time .....To The Victors..... Belong the Spoils ..... in fact they probably will be saying.... yep them Etracs and Explorers are the cats meow......and they R...but not
at 8-9 feet over your head on the yellow brick road.....Sorry this got long but it is my opinion....and I got to go ......feed my CTX3030....GB
koss are not the phones i have been using for years i use headphones that work for me gray ghost, sunray, etc...they work on my etrac and i got a set of koss phones with the etrac.
as soon as i hear cut i think mmmmmmm just paid 2.5K for a detector i have to cut something ?
customer is always right ?
we all agree this is the top of the tree detector yet we need to cut and adapt just doesn't sound right.
its not like these headphones do not work on other detectors they work on all my other minelabs etrac, xterra, gpx 5000 ...
just seems a bit strange all of a sudden we as consumers have to cut and adapt our headphones that work fine on all other minelabs
I was thinking the same thing but didn't want to say anything and start grief. This is something unique to this unit otherwise "industry standard" would be the same on all MineLabs, don't you think?

To be honest Shultzie - Writing up the PDF that Minelab did without even saying if they could write a simple software fix is a bit of a cop out. I don't mean to sound strong, but there have been MANY threads on many forums about the headphone issue. Minelab's only reply has been regarding "Industry Standard". As I brought up before, how about just making the customer happy? If a software fix can be written, what is the harm? Minelab has avoided that question/answer since the inception and that has corporate written all over it. I don't understand that philosophy with a new unit. Now, had more users been affected (e.g. - no WM10) then maybe they would have to listen. It just seems like if a big enough stink isn't made, why should they do anything - hence the corporate statement.
As I've stated many time before, I'm not on Minelab's payroll, nor am I on FindMall's payroll. I've tried to address any issues to the best of my ability, based on my experience with the CTX 3030.
