digger coil problems

I just got my digger coil today and thisbis the first time I got to use it right noe (night hunting ). I can't get the coil to lock on a solid number. The tid jumps all over the place on objects good or bad. Right now it kinda sucks because I don't know if its good or trash. Like ill run over a object and it hits 40 then sweep over it a couple more times and it jumps all over the place I dig it and its a quarter and checked the hole and no trash around it. Please help!!!!

First of all, S-L-O-W D-O-W-N. It's really easy to swing a small coil too fast, and that little coils is looking deep.
Then turn the sensitivity down as needed until it runs stable.

I see Bill was posting at the same time I was. His suggestion is a good one too if it's truely going haywire.

Remind me again how to factory reset?

Just in case we double up , sorry OLH. With the detector off hold the menu button down and turn it on. You will see an FP. Done.
And yes, slow way down. Move forward in small steps. You won't cover a lot of ground, but you won't need to, that coil will find stuff between the trash like no ones business. Good luck.

I already have like a 4 second swing. Go slower then that?

That's probably good. I have been learning that I can't advance forward very much, the footprint seems to be quite small and you want small overlaps. Once you get a good target, doing a slow wiggle over it should even out the ID numbers.
It isn't a miracle coil, but pretty close.
If you read some of my past posts you saw that I pulled maybe a couple hundred coins out of a 15x20 ft spot. There's still more coins there but they are being masked by junk. I am positive I wouldn't get them with the stock coil.
By the same token, I went out to another junky site today where I can sometimes pull IHs or barbers out. Nothing. But that's today, maybe tomorrow will be better.
Anyway, try the reset, keep going slow and I hope it all works out for you.

Man the reset did it. Whew that was getting frustrating!!! thank you so much You guys are the best
