Digfellas Bill Ladd astounding collection - coins, relics, history spanning centuries:crazy:

Hi friends,
I had the honor to interview and see Bill Ladd's (Digfellas) personal metal detecting collection - truly amazing (and humbling) to be surrounded by that much history!! He started detecting in the late 70s and built a collection that spans literally from thousands of years ago all the way through the civil war and colonial times...I'd like to share this great opportunity with you guys!

Very cool video!
I've done a little dealing (trading) will Bill and in the personal contacts with him I found him to be a really great guy.

Thanks for posting it.

Mark

Thanks, Mark! It was quite the feeling standing there being surrounded by that much history, being able to touch it and listening to the stories of each find...a great preservation project as more and more of the world gets paved over!

Thats a very nice collection of finds, the Bronze Age Axe is called a 'Palstave axe' and thats a very nice find, the problem with BA tools is they sometimes need to be treated for Bronze disease which can eat away the bronze after it comes out the ground,it could be worth getting it checked over other wise it could really eat away at the Axe head.

They also come in a smaller versions, often seen as a votive offering to the gods but they are often so much smaller,a very nice find especially a complete one,you sometimes come across scrap BA parts that have broken off and they use to store them as Bronze was a hightly sort after commodity and then once you had enough scrap you would then melt them down into new tools or weapons, like modern day scrap yard if you like.

Once again a very nice collection of finds,i guess you can tell i am from across the pond  :ukflag:
