Different Day, Different Coil, Different Direction And 2 Keepers!

Sooper Dave

Well-known member
I had about an hour to hunt before the kids got off the bus, so I headed up the hill to the old abandoned farmhouse I hunt often. This place has produced some nice coins and relics for me this summer. The good finds are hard to come by because of all the trash and iron that is in the yard. So not having a lot of time I hit a corner of the yard that I don't hunt often. I could only find two clad dimes and a zinc penny. I go over to very nice area beside the house that I go over but it has not produced much. I had on my 12x10 SEF coil and made one half of a pass and get a great sounding signal that came in 10-37 in both directions, showing the target about 6". So I start to dig and hit a big root dead center of my plug. I use my pinpointer and sure enough it is under that root :rage: So dig out on both sides of it and push the soil underneath to one side and scoop it out onto my plug... hooray it's out and it's an Indian! :) Snap a few pictures, put in my medicine bottle, rescan the hole and cover the hole. Start swinging forward but something told me to scan over the area I just found the Indian. I get another good sounding signal but jumping from 5-37 9-37 12-37. Open my plug back up, see the big root, pinpoint... and another target is under there but just a little to the edge. Repeat the "under the root recovery" and find another Indian. Snap a few pictures just as my alarm was going off to remind me the kids will be home soon. Turned out to be a very fun quick hunt this evening. The Indians are a 1906 and 1908. These are the first Indians I have found at this site. Thanks for looking and good luck on your next hunt.

I love having great signals under those big roots because you know it's gonna be something old. Yeah it's hard work to get to those targets but in my opinion, definitely worth the extra effort.
