Differences in Coiltek WOT

What would the difference be in a WOT for a Sovereign and one for a Musketeer Advantage? Is it just a matter of a different connector or something else?

The Sovereign as the Excalibur is BBS.....The Musketeer is a single frequency machine. You cannot use a WOT for BBS on a single frequency machine like the Musketeer. Just like you cannot use a WOT designed for the Explorer or E-trac (which is FBS) on a Sovereign / Excalibur which is BBS.

I don't really know much about electronics. I didn't know if frequency was controlled by the coil or the control box circuitry of the detector itself.

The coil has to be tuned to a number of factors. Inductness (word escapes me this morning), gauge wire, resistance...all these things have to match.
