Differences found in the whites V3i vs Whites Mxt

What would you guys say to the differences in the Whites V3i vs Whites mxt. One of the guys I go hunting with is always finding twice as much as the guys with the V3i with his mxt. Is it that we are always looking at the different features on the V3i which slows us down.

The extra features on the V3i teases users to over-analyze. You paid top dollar for these options. I am sure that is does slow down most all users. I was guilty during the 6 years I ran my V3i.

It's just speculation...I believe the sluggish finds with the V3i happens due to the three frequencies, a CPU in the V3i crunching the numbers, the TID numbers jumpy at any real depth. I feel that the V3i needs a firmware upgrade. It's been years now. I blame much of the lackluster finds compared to the single frequency MXT, to mismanaged data analysis. Add two this, an owner of a top of the line detector will surely tweak around to hear weak coins down past 7-8 inches.

I own 2 White's M6 units now, and I've always vacuumed up coins much quicker than with the V3i. I never put much time into testing the V3i in single tone much though to backup my idea.

Three frequency V3i not getting the depth with good VDI that the M-series do well, is IMPO, a "processing anchor" when put up against the speed of the MXT and M6.

Hello.

I think it is the user, not the machine.

I never took the time to adjust all the settings of the v3 (v3i) to the area I was searching, as there were to many adjustments one can tweak;
sorry, one HAS to tweak, to get the best performance from the machine for the current hunted area.
And this a user HAS to do for every area he/she's going to hunt.
Creating a "all-purpose" program is possible, but it is not the solution for maximum finds and depth rate in the specific area the user is going to hunt.
These "all-purpose" programs have to be tweaked for best performance to the area to be hunted.
And in all this twaeking the user has to decide to get a fast machine, or better accurate VDI's, maximum depth for silver or gold, and so on.

So if tweaking for special targets is the users goal, the v3i is state of the art. No doubt.

But if a user is after a easy to tweak to it's maximum all-purpose detector for all types of metal with great discrimination and VDI all I can say is, go with a MXT/MXT AllPro
and you'll be amazed. The find rate will rise up immediately.

Personally I never felt my MXT wasn't tweaked to maximum like I felt when using the v3i.
Every feet without a signal I was asking myself:" Do I use the correct settings? Can I change a little to get more?"

I'll never get rid of my MXT....

Coil size, speed and filter match, tone ID and mixed mode stereo all play a role. The number one reason is experience with the machine. My V3i out does most other detectors or at least matches them. Once your V is set up then go super slow and check each signal out. Also compare deep signals, if you can hear theirs than you need to set up your machine differently.

Just one small adjustment can throw the v series out of whack and make it where a garrett ace 400 is way better. One has to be very careful. Also after ground balancing the machine be sure to use locktrac . Other wise when you put the machine down to dig a target it will re balance to air, and can take a bit of time to auto balance out again which will cost you targets.

Hello.
I know this thread is little old but have to add:

Since I got my VX3 I have to say, this machine performs very well.
With some little tweaking it is as fast as the MXT but deeper; and depending to
the 3 frequencies it has an advantage on the beach and analysing the targets.
Adding a VX3 mode to the V3i would be a great feature I think.

IMHO and wanted to mention this.

Good Luck & Happy Hunting

As a VX3 user myself I have to add to the below. Never use the VX3 in coins mode you lose 2" depth to Coin and Jewelry. mode.

So my take on the sluggish v3i finds, is I believe it to confused easily, with trash and other iron, making any response too challenging to easily discern. When you have deep silver in clean ground it may be the best, however clean ground is rare.

I found a 9 inch silver Merc in a clean yard once and it hit hard and solid. Absolutely no questions it was a deep dime, really too good to be true. I also have a 8" dime in a clean test garden. Again it slammed it and my Etrac was a bit scratchy and jumpy. But finding deep silver in most situations with other metal under the coil, may be too taxing for the v3i.
