Differences Between 9.50 And the 300 Coi

Does anyone know what the true weights of these coils are? Also what is the approximate difference in the depth between these two coils? I have the mxt 300 and after swinging this setup for about 4 or 5 hours it gets very tiring' I"m thinking about purchasing the 9.50 depending upon the outcome of this post . I "ve been reading these forums for months and decided to join. I"m the owner of two brands of machines and I enjoy them both . The MXT 300 is my primary search machine and it might be worthwhile for me to purchase one .My hunting is large fields up to several hundred acres . Thankyou for your information and opinions it is greatly appreciated!

Ezra..my understanding is you might gain an inch with 3oomm coil,i also bought new mxt 300 with same coil..my opinion it is a super coil but you are right it does get tiring..i dont have a 9.5 but have seen them up close and i would assume they are somewhat lighter and work fine in large field with very little loss of coverage compared to larger one..im sure you will get info you need from this forum...Curt

If I were thinking of buying another coil to go with the 300, I'd go with either the 6X10 or the 5.3. They'll both swing a bit lighter and both will handle trashy areas better than the 9.5. I have both the 9.5 and the 12" and find I really only need/use them in large, fairly trash free areas. My two bits.

EZRA, try this, take your holding pins in your lower rod and put them up to the 2nd or 3rd notch. I have to do this with my SUPER 12 and I can go for quite a ways in this position. That 300 must be pretty heavy. I still use my 950 a lot but with my new 6 X 10 DD (it's better IMHO) Try that, it sure helped me. But what do I know, I just turned 75.

That's a good tip as well. Keep your poles as short as you can with the coil fairly close to your feet.

Thank you gentlemen for your inputs and advice. I have the eclipse 5.3 great coil for trashy areas and I use the tall man rod also, I realize that rod is making it weight heavy on the coil end but if I use the stock rod it is screwing up my walking .The 5.3 is a great coil but the coverage is lacking in hundred acre plus fields so the logic was if the 9.5 is several ounces lighter and not a significant difference in depth , maybe the couple ounce difference would give me several more hours of hunting. So this is the factor determing whether to buy another coil. Thanks ,Ezra.

Ezra..according to Roger at Kelly co metal detectors..he says theres about 1/4 pound difference between 12 inch spider and stock 9.5 coils..hope that helps...Curt
