Differences between 5" DD & 3x6 DD & 4x6 DD Excelerator coils?

I am hoping for help in trashy areas.
Was told the 4x6 DD coil could be good on the beach as well.
More than 90% of the time I am in parks, both new and old. Beach is the other 10%.
I am considering the following:
5" Excelerator coil
5" DD coil
3x6 DD coil 'Shooter'
4x6 DD coil
Pros and Cons of each would be helpful
The two I am considering the most are the 5" DD coil and the 4x6 DD coil.

Hi Coral,
I think there is some confusion on the Eclipse coil sizes. I don't know of any 3x6 DD "Shooter" coil. Whites makes the following elliptical DD coils for the MXT/DFX:
4x6
6x10
8x14
I believe the Whites 5" Eclipse coil is a concentric coil and not a Double-D.
The Whites 5" Eclipse coil will probably give you a little better depth and discrimination vs. the 4x6 DD Eclipse. The advantage of the 4x6 is that it can get in-between targets better than the 5" and that you don't have to overlap quite as much as you do with a concentric coil. I personally prefer the 4x6 DD for high trash vs. a concentric.
I'm not sure what the EXcelerator coil's configuration is. I know they offer a 5", 12.5", 14" and 18" coils for the Whites units.
Hope this helps,

It was just the other day I was told by someone that DD coils handle extreme ground better than concentric--ok --- big deal ---- MXT showing upper 80's pretty common where I hunt--- that is getting close to high----- then same person says thats only one extreme, there is the low side also!!!!
Light bulb came on, I now own all three Whites DD's.
I call it the Wholey Trinity.

and we are testing some proto-type coils that are lighter and have better shielding.

With an XLT you would be getting there, but the MXT doesn't register ground phase readings with the same scale as the XLT.
Yes, Double-D coils might help with high mineralization, but that doesn't mean a good concentric coil doesn't work. There is more to it than just the ground reading.
Most of my hunting with the MXT is done with a Double-D coil, but that's simply due to the fact that I like the performance overall and not just specifically any 'ground handling' ability.

I am hoping for help in trashy areas... In trashy sites you want to use a smaller coil. I prefer a small Double-D coil and keep the 5" EXcelerator mounted most of the time. Generally, I am hunting sites with a lot of brush, rubble, and trash so the smaller coil works best for me.

Was told the 4x6 DD coil could be good on the beach as well.... A SMALL coil, such as the White's 4x6, can be used on the beach also, but they are usually not the best pick.
Oh, I use my 5" Excelerator coil when I get to the beach because I hit all the swings, fire pits and some of the 'blanket' sites that are in some grassy mounds. But when I look out at an immense beach I don't want to look down at a dinky coil.

More than 90% of the time I am in parks, both new and old. Beach is the other 10%.... It's wise to have a smaller coil to work in and around trashy sites and closer to metal structures such as in the playgrounds. But for open grassy areas or wide-open beaches, you'll be better off using a larger coil for coverage. And when it comes to coverage, a good Double-D (Wide-Scan) coil can be handier than a Concentric wound coil.
Presently I have two Concentric coils and four Double-D coils for my MXT. While my 14" EXcelerator coil gives great coverage, my preference is my 12
