In past posts there was some discussion on this forum about the machines being made in Ireland at the factory that also makes military detectors were somehow better than the ones made at the other plant. You can find the posts by searching. This would be hard to show I believe and some refute the statement and others buy into it. There was also some talk within the last 6 months about a fake Mine lab coming out of China for about half the price...but I did not read the end of that thread.
My E trac came out of Ireland so I didn't worry as I made sure the warranty was sent in anyway.

I hope that the Malaysian ones are OK cuz that's what I have. You never know where the parts and boards are sourced from - as opposed to where they are assembled. More than likely, and I am just guessing, is that most of the components were sourced in Asia anyway and they simply consolidated their manufacturing. Perhaps they also like the ability to visit from Australia easier.

The Malaysian made ones have been sold here for most of this year. Doubtless thousands are out there since dealers STILL have trouble keeping inventory. I have not heard of any problems from anyone about the E-Trac before or after the factory switch.

you make a good point here. its a shame some people are pushing this ireland/malaysian thing like theres a big difference and they themselves havent even tried both side by side.
