DIfference between XS and XSII

I was talking to ao local dealer who said he would give me a "deal" on a new (in the box) Explorer XS. He claims that there is no difference between the XS and XSII except the upper rod is sturdier. Is this true? Are the electronics identical??
Thanks for any input..

There is a bit of difference in the XS and the XS II. First thing is that it has a 1/4 jack for the heaphones on the XS II so you can use any headphones. The XS has the 1/8ich jack and most of us bought the Sunray stand adapter. Next is the XS II has dual digital, so you get both the conductivity and the ferrous number which does help ID targets better, The XS just told you what the conductivity was. The lower rod now on the XS II is a fiber rod which is stronger and more duable. The software is differnt too on the XS II as you can change the menu faster and it seem to recover faster when going over a target.
Over all many dont see the difference in the accual performance between the two of them, so if it is the good deal and you plan on keeping it you can save some money with the XS. As you notice on E Bay the resale of a XS is not real good being the XS II came out.
